Ravago and Amco join forces in North American distribution market
Ravago Americas has expanded its presence in the North American polymer market by acquiring distributor and compounder Amco Plastic Materials Inc. of Farmingdale, New York. Amco was founded in 1955 as a private company and grew over the years from a local distributor to an important player in the North American market. The company currently represents over a dozen resin suppliers, and markets both commodities (olefins, styrenics, PVC, etc.) and specialties (TPE, ETP, custom compounds, etc.) in its product portfolio.
Besides distribution Amco’s expertise includes custom manufacturing of polymers compounded with colors, glass, carbon fiber, metal, impact modifiers, etc. The company is also involved in active blending of UV stabilizers, lubricants, foaming agents, scratch resistant enhancers, etc. Moreover Amco has color matching capabilities and is actively developing R&D in the field of biodegradable polymers, anti-counterfeiting and anti-microbial technologies.
From now on Amco will operate under the name “Amco Polymers” as a division of Ravago Holdings America Inc. “Amco will remain as a unique and separate channel to market for distribution,” RHA President Jim Duffy said in a recent news release.
